How to Change Camry Oil Filter:
Here are some simple steps that will teach you how to change Camry oil filter.
- Make sure you use jack supports to elevate your car and support it. Be very careful when doing this because the car should be parked on a level surface and then elevated securely.
- The first thing to do is to locate the oil drain plug under the car. This plug is usually located on the underside of the engine, behind the front wheel. If you are unable to locate the drain plug, consult the owner's manual to get the exact location.
- Place the oil drain pan directly under the plug and then loosen the plug by means of socket wrench.
- Once the plug is loosened, use your hands to remove it completely. Be prepared for the oil to rush out onto the drain pan.
- Once the oil has drained out completely, wipe the drain plug and the plug opening clean.
- Now is a good time to replace the oil drain plug's gasket.
- Replace the plug and tighten it by means of a socket wrench.
- Now look for the oil filter. Usually it is located at the side of the engine. If unsure, check your owner's manual for the exact location.
- Make sure you use the oil drain pan again as there will be oil in the filter.
- Loosen the oil filter using a strap wrench if it is to tighten to remove by hand.
- Once the filter is removed, take a rag and wipe the area clean.
- Grease the rubber seal of the new filter using new oil.
- Now screw on the new filter using your hands. Usually you do not need a wrench to tighten the filter but it makes sense to have an oil filter wrench handy in case you are not able to tighten it with your hands.
- Now you have managed to change the Camry oil filter without shelling out too much money for the same work in a dealership or a garage.
