The astonishing increase in the CUV segment has been fuelled by two diverse consumer trends. Buyers are looking for spacious and flexible interiors coupled with a 4 wheel drive. Erstwhile SUV buffs look out for maneuverable, fuel efficient vehicles without compromising on an active lifestyle. The crossover design was intended to clone the SUV. Edge has achieved this with an audacious, contemporary, typically American design.
The intrepid front end of the Edge speaks of dynamic expertise with its three-bar chromed grille. The sensation of restrained motion is emphasized by the rakishly-angled windshield and the rapid-sloping rear window culminating in a rear spoiler. Each wheel planted in an extreme corner gives the Edge a commanding, elegant carriage. The business-like look to the front end is accentuated by the quad-beam headlamps and a ‘power-dome’ hood.
The Edge seats five comfortably with six-way power, adjustable front seats that are heated, and heaps of adult head and legroom in the rear. The front passenger seat folds to create an extended load floor.
The Edge is powered by a 3.5 liter V-6 engine with a die-cast aluminum block. Exceptionally smooth operation at high rpms is achieved through 4 valves per cylinder. The 10.3:1 compression ratio and close-coupled catalysts are designed to meet the stringent super-low ULEV II vehicle emission standards.
