2. Make Sure the Car Battery Is Good
The most important factor in determining whether or not your automobile battery still performs like new is whether or not it has the appropriate amount of liquid in it.
Because of this, we strongly suggest that you check the status of your car battery every three months if it is already several years old.
You can use a car battery tester to quickly determine if your battery has enough juice for your car to properly run.

3. Take Care of Your Car Paint
The way that your car looks is highly significant, just like any other aspect of your appearance. Waxing a painting at least twice per year is what we recommend doing if you want it to look as good as it did when you first bought it.
Because of this, its visual appeal will be improved, and it will be protected from environmental conditions that could cause it to decay. A tarpaulin can be used to shade it when there is a lot of sunlight, which is another useful feature.
To apply the car wax an old t-shirt will do the trick, or you can get a microfiber mitt. If you wish to be more high tech you can always use an electric buffer.
If your car is parked in the sun, you can always get a pre-made carport to protect not only your car exterior but also your car interior from the sun’s damage.

4. Maintain Your Leather Seats
If you have leather seats, the best method to properly maintain them is to moisten them with a car leather conditioner and a microfiber towel so that it doesn’t leave a residue.
This is the finest approach to keeping your leather seats in good condition.
After thoroughly cleaning and removing all of the filth, the next step is to apply the product with the help of the microfiber towel in a very delicate manner.
Wait a few minutes for it to take effect, and then remove any excess.

5. Check Your Tires Often
When you go to calibrate the tires, they must have the appropriate amount of air pressure maintained in them so that they remain in good condition.
Checking them at regular intervals and looking for signs of wear or defects of various kinds, such as holes, is essential in this context.
A whole lot rides on your tires. Not just your car… also your safety and everyone’s safety around you as well.
I make it a habit to walk around m vehicle to at least give them a quick look.
I go thru my tires at least once a month to make sure there is nothing wrong with them. Check that there is still enough thread on the tires. While doing so make sure the air pressure is at the right level.
Useful Items To Take Care of Your Tires
I carry several items in the event of a tire emergency and some others are for basic preventive maintenance.
And yes, you may say that you would just call AAA… but remember those times that you did not have cell service. You could be out in the middle of nowhere with no way to contact anyone. So be safe.

6. Check Your Car Lights Once a Month
Your car headlights and turn signals are very important for safety reasons. Check your car lights at least once a month to make sure they are in working order.
To accomplish this, simply turn them on one at a time and make sure they are indeed turning on and off as necessary.
Headlights, high beams, turning signals (front and back), reverse lights, brake lights, and hazard lights are the ones to check. For the brake lights and reverse lights, you may need someone to assist you though.
Checking your lights is easy to do and will only take a few moments of your time.
7. Take It Easy With The Gas Pedal
Take it easy with the gas pedal. Over time, your engine will wear out faster if you often floor the gas pedal.
The engine has to work harder to produce more power when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed, which can cause additional wear and strain on various engine components.
Not to mention the extra cost of fuel that you will have. It may look cool but flooring the gas pedal will use more fuel.
8. Change Your Cars Air Intake Filter
The performance of your car can be greatly improved by regularly changing the engine air filters.
If your air filter is unclean, clean air will not be able to reach your engine, which can lead to a variety of issues, including a reduction in the engine’s overall efficiency and a loss of power.
At a minimum of every 15,000 miles or once a year, you should change the filters in your vehicle.
Do not neglect the other filters that are in your car. The oil filter, glove box air filter, and fuel filter will also need to be changed at regular intervals.
- Read our post Car Filters to Replace To Keep Car Maintained.
You can use our Vehicle Maintenance Logbook to easily keep track of when you have changed any of them.

9. Your Brake System
When discussing brakes, two components require your full attention: the discs themselves, as well as the pads that are attached to the wheels.
In most cases, a light on the dashboard of your vehicle will illuminate to let you know when it is time to replace the brake pads. If you do not have it, you may still check it yourself by observing how much the brake fluid has worn down, as this is related to how much the brake pads have worn down.
When it comes to the discs, you should clean and lubricate them if you notice any noise or vibrations when you are applying the brakes. In the event that these vexatious behaviors continue, it might be time to replace the brakes.
The brake system is one of the things I would not worry about trying to fix or patch. If the brakes are worn or damaged it just may be best to get a new set.
10. Use Only Original Parts for Repairs
These components are not only fully compatible with your automobile but also adhere to the specifications set out by the manufacturer. This results in shorter timeframes needed for repairs and lower overall labor costs.
As you can see, keeping your car looking like new is an everyday chore. Believe that the quality and condition it was in when you first got it will be maintained so that you can continue to enjoy it if you give it a little bit of care over time.
